Our backyard is full of these azalea blooms right now. These plants range from three to ten feet tall. They are most impressive. Last year a late frost killed all the blooms except a few around the bottom of the plants. That was most disappointing. This year however they seem to be doing much better. It is amazing how two plants right next to each other and one will bloom and the other will not???
This is what the blooms look like up close.
Now, the above photos were taken in our backyard. Here are some from the front yard taken this morning:
Along the front porch ...
Around the corner ...
Hostas peeping up ...
Along the driveway ...
Spring came quickly this year. It seems that the weather changed to warm (in the 80's) over just a few days. This caused everything to bloom early. Hope a frost doesn't get them.
We have been busy with our Scripture Studies along with other obligations. It seems that the Scripture Study takes a great deal of time to fully digest what He is trying to tell us and be able to guide the thinking of the group to arrive at how the reading is affecting their lives and what to do about it. It is a challenge. We have found out that next year's studies will be Acts. That should be most interesting and informative. Our Pastor has put out a call for people to serve as Sacristans. A Sacristan's duties center around the preparation for Mass - to be sure that all the vessels, linens, books, etc. are in the right place in the right quantity and on time. They must also make sure that all ministers for that Mass are coordinated. We have signed up for that training and service - something else to occupy us!
Tonight I'm scheduled to give my Photography 101 course at the Germantown Library. I understand that several have signed up and usually there will be others who come at the last minute. Hopefully I will have a big group. I modified the previous presentation to slim it down to a one hour deal instead of one and a half hours. The old saying is "The mind can absorb what the tail can endure"! I have found this to be true. So now I have a rather complete set of presentations on photography with the emphasis on photographing digitally flowers and gardens. Of course the information is applicable to all photography so they will not be limited.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all readers a most happy and joyous Easter.
